Kinetic DX E-Scooter Teased, Launch Confirmed for 28 July: What to Expect
Kinetic Green is gearing up to step into the electric scooter market with a brand-new model scheduled to make its debut on July 28, 2025. The company has recently unveiled a teaser confirming the launch date, and prototypes of the scooter have been seen on the streets. Despite the camouflage, it's evident that the new Kinetic DX takes design cues from the iconic Kinetic Honda DX, which was a popular name in Indian households during the 1980s.
As revealed in the spy shots, the front apron, the headlamp cluster, and the overall shape appear to pay tribute to the classic design while incorporating modern elements such as a backlit Kinetic logo and a TFT instrument cluster. Beneath the retro exterior, the electric scooter boasts a contemporary setup. It will be equipped with a hub-mounted motor and will offer battery options ranging from 2 kWh to 3.5 kWh. The anticipated top speed is 80 km/h, placing it in the same league as competitors like the Bajaj Chetak and Hero Vida VX2.
Expect the scooter to come with 12-inch wheels, a front disc brake, telescopic fork in the front, and dual shock absorbers in the rear. While the exact pricing and full feature list will be disclosed at the launch event, the company has ambitious plans for the Indian EV market, with three new "Born Electric" scooters set to be launched in the next 18 months.

Extracting More Range from Your Electric Scooter: Tips & Suggestions
Electric scooters are no longer a rare sight on Indian roads. They're fast becoming the go-to option for most buyers, college students, and office commuters looking for a budget-friendly alternative to petrol-powered two-wheelers. But while the convenience and low running cost are big plus points, one issue continues to nag most users: range anxiety. If you're among those who've recently purchased an e-scooter or are planning to do so, don't worry. Here are a few tips and tricks to extract optimal range from your EV.
Ride smoothly
Avoid sudden or aggressive acceleration. Fast throttle inputs draw more power from the battery. Try to maintain a steady pace and accelerate gradually. This helps the motor operate more efficiently and increases range. Most electric scooters offer multiple riding modes — typically Eco, Normal, and Sport. Eco mode limits speed and power to extend battery life. Use this mode when riding in the city or in slow-moving traffic to conserve range.
Maintain correct tyre pressure
Check tyre pressure regularly and keep it at the manufacturer-recommended level. Under-inflated tyres increase rolling resistance, which makes the motor work harder and reduces overall efficiency.
Use regenerative braking
Many electric scooters are equipped with regenerative braking systems that help recharge the battery slightly during braking. Use gentle braking instead of sudden stops to allow the regenerative system to recover energy.
Avoid overloading
Every scooter has a recommended load capacity. Riding with more weight than the scooter is designed for will reduce range. If your scooter is not built for two people, avoid carrying a pillion regularly.
Charge the battery properly
Avoid letting your battery drain completely before charging. Try to keep the charge level between 20% and 80% for better long-term battery health. Also, avoid charging to 100% every single time unless needed for a longer trip.

India to Make Two BIS-Certified Helmets Mandatory with Every New Two-Wheeler Sold
India is set to take a major step forward in two-wheeler safety. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways recently proposed a change to the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989. This proposal will require manufacturers to provide two BIS-certified helmets - one for the rider and one for the pillion - with every new two-wheeler sold in the country starting January 2026. The objective is to promote safer riding habits and reduce road fatalities, especially among pillion riders who often do not wear helmets. Dealerships will also need to deliver both helmets at the time of vehicle handover.
For an industry that has long struggled with poor safety awareness and widespread use of fake helmets, this new regulation could bring about much-needed change. According to Rajeev Kapur, Managing Director of Steelbird, this rule could lead to a significant increase in helmet demand. Kapur mentioned that if every new two-wheeler comes with two helmets, the annual requirement could exceed 4 crore helmets. However, a challenge lies ahead as India's actual production capacity for genuine ISI-certified helmets is only around 3 crore units per year, leaving a substantial gap.
The proposed rule aligns with the government's broader efforts to reduce road fatalities, with over 1.5 lakh deaths reported annually in India due to road accidents, a significant portion of which involve two-wheeler riders. Steelbird, one of India's largest helmet manufacturers, is already heavily investing in automation and plant expansion. The company plans to introduce 75 new helmet models over the next five years, catering to various segments from budget to premium.
Despite these positive steps, the issue of fake helmets remains a concern. Approximately half of the helmets used on Indian roads are counterfeit, lacking safety standards and providing inadequate protection. Kapur emphasized the importance of strong enforcement to ensure that only genuine ISI-marked products are sold and that any law mandating two helmets per vehicle must have robust checks in place.
Kapur believes that effective enforcement of this law will not only save more lives but also help eliminate counterfeit helmet suppliers from the market.
