AC Low Watt dan AC Inverter, Mana Pilihan Tepat Biar Tagihan Listrik Ringan?

Warganet di media sosial tengah ramai membahas perbandingan antara AC low watt dan AC inverter dari sisi biaya dan efisiensi listrik. Diskusi ini bermula dari pertanyaan seorang pengguna yang ingin membeli AC berdaya 1/2 PK dengan konsumsi listrik rendah.

Mayoritas komentar menyarankan untuk memilih AC inverter, yang meski harganya sedikit lebih tinggi, dinilai lebih hemat listrik untuk penggunaan rutin. “Jangan terlalu fokus low watt, mending pilih AC inverter. Lebih hemat dan nyaman untuk jangka panjang,” tulis salah satu pengguna.

Pakar menjelaskan perbedaan efisiensi

Muhammad Nizam, Dosen Teknik Elektro Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Solo, menjelaskan bahwa AC low watt sebenarnya adalah AC konvensional atau non-inverter yang dirancang agar konsumsi dayanya lebih rendah dibandingkan AC biasa. “AC low watt dirancang agar lebih hemat listrik dibanding AC konvensional pada umumnya,” ujarnya.

Meski lebih hemat daya, AC low watt tetap menggunakan sistem kompresor hidup-mati, yang bekerja untuk menjaga suhu ruangan. Sementara itu, AC inverter menggunakan teknologi kompresor canggih yang menyesuaikan kecepatan kerja sesuai kebutuhan pendinginan.

“AC inverter lebih efisien dan nyaman untuk pemakaian intensif, sedangkan AC low watt lebih ekonomis untuk penggunaan jarang,” jelas Nizam.

Perbedaan cara kerja kompresor

Toto Sukisno, Dosen Teknik Elektro Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), menambahkan bahwa perbedaan utama kedua jenis AC terletak pada sistem kerja kompresornya. “AC inverter kompresornya berjalan terus dan menyesuaikan suhu, sedangkan AC low watt hidup-mati,” kata Toto.

Ia menekankan bahwa efisiensi penggunaan sangat bergantung pada pola pemakaian:

AC low watt cocok untuk penggunaan jangka pendek, misalnya di ruangan yang sering dibuka-tutup, karena daya awalnya rendah.
AC inverter lebih hemat untuk penggunaan jangka panjang di ruangan tertutup, karena kompresornya bekerja lebih efisien dengan kecepatan variabel setelah suhu tercapai.

Dengan pemahaman ini, konsumen bisa menyesuaikan pilihan AC sesuai kebutuhan sehari-hari: hemat biaya awal atau hemat listrik untuk pemakaian rutin.
