According to Hindu scriptures, Purnima Tithi holds great importance for Hindus at a religious and spiritual level. On this auspicious day, the moon's divine and powerful energies descend on earth, making it a highly sacred day. This day is significant as it falls in the month of Shravan, dedicated to Lord Shiva. Purnima is a much-loved day, devoted to worshipping Lord Vishnu and the Moon God. People may engage in various puja ceremonies to enhance their spiritual energies and attain greater enlightenment.
One of the main activities on this day is the worship of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. Devotees perform Satyanarayan puja and observe Satyanarayan vrat on this auspicious day. Shravan Purnima 2025: Puja Rituals
Cleanse: Rise early, take a holy bath, and add a few drops of Gangajal before filling the bucket with water.
Bathe: Bathe an idol of Lord Vishnu, Krishna, and Laddo Gopal.
Earthen Lamp: Light an earthen diya in front of the deity using incense sticks and desi cow ghee.
Offerings: Present sacred objects like Tulsi Patra, Akshat, Panchamrit, adorn the idol with flowers or a garland, and apply sandalwood paste for tilak.
Chant Mantra: Recite the Shree Hari Stotram, Vishnu Sahasranama, and other Vishnu mantras to please Lord Vishnu.
Katha Recitation: Recite the Satyanarayan Katha with dedication and faith.
Offer Arghya: Before breaking the fast, offer water to the Moon God, a significant ritual of this puja.
Breaking the fast: Break the fast after sunset and consume sattvik meals.
Visit the Temple: Worship Lord Shiva on Shravan Purnima, visit the temple, perform abhishekam to shivalingam, and recite the Panchakshari and Maha Mrityunjaya mantra.
