FIFA has inaugurated its inaugural talent academy for girls in India, located in Hyderabad. This initiative is a partnership between FIFA, the All India Football Federation (AIFF), and the Telangana government. The academy, situated at the Gachibowli Stadium Complex, will provide year-round training and residential facilities to 60 elite players - 30 boys (U14) and 30 girls (U16), including 10 players from Telangana in each category. The academy will focus on offering high-performance training, education, medical care, nutrition, and mental wellness support to the selected players. AIFF president Kalyan Chaubey expressed, "The launch of India's first FIFA Talent Academy for girls and second academy for boys signifies a significant milestone in our quest for balanced football development. This collaboration with the Telangana government, as part of FIFA's global Talent Development Scheme, demonstrates our joint commitment to identify, nurture, and empower young talent, particularly girls, nationwide." Chaubey added, "This academy will not only develop elite athletes but also inspire a new generation of footballers who aspire to represent India at the highest levels. It is a proud moment for Indian football and a crucial step towards our aim of qualifying for the U17 men's and women's FIFA World Cups." The AIFF will oversee operations, technical aspects, talent scouting, and training curriculum in collaboration with FIFA, while the Sports Authority of Telangana will manage infrastructure, logistics, education, and player welfare support. This endeavor aligns with AIFF's "Vision 2047" plan to position India as a premier football nation. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy remarked, "This academy will revolutionize girls' football. It is not only the first of its kind in India but also one of the few globally under FIFA's Talent Development Scheme. Young talents, especially girls, from Telangana and beyond will now have access to top-notch infrastructure, education, and a clear pathway to the national and international stage." The establishment of this academy underscores India's dedication to inclusive and structured grassroots football development across the nation.
